All the Hotels of Lisbon with on-line availability
These are all managed by the Portuguese company Carris. The autocarros are normal buses .
A total of 90 urban and suburban lines cover every corner of the city. Traveling by tram (eléctricos) is possible both on the historic yellow trams and the modern jumbo-tram.
There are 5 lines in total: line 12 with terminal in Praça da Figueira; line 15, from Praça da Figueira to Belém via Alges; line 18 from Rua Alfândega, close to Praça do Comércio, until the southern district of Parco di Monsanto; line 25, from Rua Alfândega to Campo Ourique; and line 28, probably the most crowded by tourists, since it passes through the old districts.
Ascensores (usually indicated as elévadores) are rack-and-pinion systems which climb up the steepest slopes of Lisbon. There are three lifts in Lisbon: the ascensor da Bica, connecting Rua de São Paulo with Calçada do Combro, in the Bairro Alto; the ascensor da Gloria, climbing from Praça dos Restauradores up to Rua de São Pedro de Alcântara and its homonimous miradouro; and the ascensor do Lavra, from Largo da Anunciada to Rua das Portas de Santo Antão and Rua de Júlio de Andrade.
As for the Elévador de Santa Justa, it is a real lift, made up of a spectacular 32 mt iron structure, which was built at the beginning of the 20th century by a Portuguese student of Gustave Eiffel. The elevador takes from Rua Santa Justa, in the Baixa district, up to the Igreja do Carmo, from where you can enjoy a stunning view over the city districts lying under and the Castle.
The elévador is open from 8 am to 20 pm, while all other transports in Lisbon operate from 5.30 am to 1 am (the ascensores are subject to specific indications).
Some bus lines operate also at night. You will find free maps of the public transport network at any of the tourist offices in Lisbon, and in the kiosks of the public transport company Carris.
Carris also provides a shuttle service (Aerobus) , which connects Praça do Comércio and Cais do Sodré with the airport, calling at the main hotels of Lisbon.
In addition to the airbus, an Aeroshuttle is also available, connecting the airport with the city centre, calling at Parque das Naçoes and the bus terminal in Sete Rios.
